The contract is signed with Deep Sea Supply Navegação Maritima Ltda. in Brazil, a subsidiary of Deep Sea Supply in Arendal, Norway.
Roy Reite, President of STX Europe's Offshore & Specialized Vessels business area, says:
"STX Europe has been through an extensive R&D programme over the last two years. We presented the new ship design to the market this spring, and have received very good response from our customers. We are proud to be given the opportunity to design and build this innovative platform supply vessel to a new customer, and look forward to cooperating with Deep Sea Supply."
The vessel is designed for good sea keeping performance, low fuel consumption and environmental friendly operations. The patent pending hull design is optimized for eco-drive in all weather conditions, and designed with high focus on reduction of water resistance in various conditions.
High standard accommodation is planned for 26 persons.
The vessel also incorporates tailormade features in terms of range, speed, capacity and cargo flexibility to attend the challenging requirements of exploration and production support operations in the newly discovered Brazilian "pre-salt" oil fields.
STX Europe's business area Offshore & Specialized Vessels has now 43 vessels in the orderbook, 79% of these are of STX Norway Offshore design.
